Couchful privacy policy
Couchful is a party and conversation card game, run by Galix Studios Pty Ltd (ABN 22 703 560 141), Australia. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Couchful app or the Couchful web game, visit our website, or email us.
The short version
While you play, Couchful collects nothing: no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. What you type stays on your device. If you email us, we get your email address and message and use them only to reply. Our website's host sees what every website sees (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages.
What the game collects
Nothing. While you play, Couchful sends no personal information to us or to anyone else. The one exception is a purchase, which goes through the App Store or Google Play (see Purchases).
What stays on your device
To make the game work, Couchful keeps these on your phone (or in your browser, for the web game): player names and saved groups, scores, cards you save or hide, cards you write, which cards you've already seen, games in progress, and your settings. We can't see any of it.
Cookies and tracking
Couchful uses no cookies, no tracking pixels and no advertising identifiers. The web game uses your browser's local storage and an offline copy of itself only to remember the things listed above and to work without internet. These are strictly necessary for it to work, so there is no consent banner.
Purchases
Couchful Plus is bought through the App Store or Google Play under Apple or Google's terms and privacy policy. We never see your payment details or your name. Your phone only tells the app whether the purchase belongs to your Apple ID or Google account, so it can unlock it and restore it.
If you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them only to reply to you. They are kept in our email account with a commercial email provider and deleted within 12 months of the conversation ending. You can ask us at any time to delete them sooner, or to tell you what we hold. We never add your address to a mailing list or use it for marketing.
Our website
Our website, couchful.galixstudios.com, is where the web game, this policy and our support page live. Like every website, it is delivered by a web host (Cloudflare Pages) that receives your IP address and browser details in order to send you the pages, and may keep them for a short time in security logs. We don't add analytics, cookies or trackers to it, and its fonts are served from the same site, not loaded from a font service.
Third parties
No third party receives data from Couchful while you play. Couchful is built with open-source components (listed under Licences) that run on your device and send nothing to their makers. Apple or Google's own purchase system handles purchases, as above. Our web host and our email provider handle only what is described above.
Children
Couchful is not directed at children under 13. Family mode is made for families to play together with adults present. The game collects no information from anyone, so it collects none from children.
Sharing house cards
If you share house cards, Couchful makes a code holding only the text of those cards, and it goes only where you send it (a message or an email, for example). It never passes through us. The word filter that checks cards you write or receive runs on your device.
Your rights
Wherever you live, including under Australia's Privacy Act and the EU and UK GDPR, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because the game collects nothing, the only personal information we could hold is an email you sent us. Contact us below, and you can also complain to your local privacy regulator (in Australia, the OAIC).
Deleting your data
Everything the game keeps is on your device, so you're in control: use Settings > Erase everything on this phone, or delete the app (for the web game, clear the site's data in your browser). Purchases stay with your Apple ID or Google account and can be restored. We hold no copy of anything the game keeps, so there is nothing of that for us to delete. To have emails you sent us deleted, just ask (see "If you email us").
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date.
